Cosmos Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") set out the conditions for using Cosmos ("the Service") and the rights and obligations of the operator and users. By using the Service you agree to these Terms.
The Japanese version is the authoritative original. If there is any discrepancy in interpretation, the Japanese version prevails. These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
Purpose of the Service
The Service is a neighborhood mutual-help platform where nearby workers help in person with everyday tasks (cleaning, shopping on your behalf, yard work, taking out the trash, preparing dinner, wellness checks, and more). Our aim is help that is affordable, fast, and warm.
Scope and Eligible Users
The Service is intended for use within Japan. Worker registration is open from the age of a junior-high-school graduate, but minors under 18 require the comprehensive consent of a parent or legal guardian.
Face-to-Face Greeting Rule
The Service requires an in-person start and an in-person completion. After arriving, the worker must greet the requester or in-person beneficiary directly before starting the task. Pressing "Start" or "Complete" without meeting in person is a violation of these Terms. Location and face-to-face records are stored for safety verification.
Health Considerations
Because workers are independent contractors there is no legal cap on working hours, but overworking harms your health. Avoid continuous shifts and take enough breaks and sleep. Do not accept jobs when you are unwell.
Prohibited Conduct
The following are prohibited and may result in reporting, blocking, or account suspension:
- Abuse, harassment, or discriminatory remarks
- Demanding money without authorization, or soliciting off-app transactions
- Not performing the agreed task, or falsely reporting completion
- Misuse of personal information, impersonation, or falsifying identity
- Working under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or any dangerous act
Reporting and Blocking Policy
Users may report or block inappropriate counterparties. The operator reviews reports and may issue warnings, restrict use, or suspend accounts as needed. Accounts judged to be malicious will be suspended.
Fees and Commission
The service fee per request is set per category (roughly JPY 1,000–2,000), plus a distance-based travel fee (JPY 200–500); the cost of goods for shopping-on-your-behalf is settled at actual cost. The operator charges a commission (generally 20%) on completed transactions. Payment is by card only; no cash is exchanged directly.
Compensation and Insurance
The operator provides the service as a sole proprietorship. Property damage or injury arising during in-person work is, in principle, to be resolved between the parties involved, and you use the service at your own responsibility. The operator endeavors to provide support toward resolution, such as sharing contact details and checking the situation. The status of any compensation or insurance arrangements is announced in these Terms and on the official website as appropriate.
Disclaimer
The operator does not guarantee the quality of work or the personal relationships between users. To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for damages caused by natural disasters, communication failures, or the acts of third parties.
Handling on Withdrawal
You may withdraw at any time. After withdrawal, identity-verification information and your profile are deleted following a 30-day grace period, and certain data is retained in anonymized form for the statutory retention period (generally 7 years). Details follow the Privacy Policy. Rights and obligations regarding already-completed transactions survive withdrawal.
Self-Recovery When Changing Devices or Accounts
The Service uses passwordless authentication (no passwords). When changing devices or logging back in, you can recover as follows:
- Email Magic Link users: have a magic link re-sent to the same registered email address and sign in again via the link.
- Apple Sign In / Google Sign In users: sign in using Apple's or Google's standard account-recovery procedures.
With the same email address and the same provider, your history and identity-verification status carry over.
Amendment and Governing Law
The operator may amend these Terms as needed. For material changes, re-consent is requested within the app. These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, and the Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction of first instance over disputes.
